Sri Lankan Elephants are an endangered species and are threatened due to human activities. In order to support orphaned baby elephants, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has established the Elephant Transit Home very close to the Udawalawe National Park. Guests can visit these elephants during meal times to learn more about them.

Orphaned baby elephants are cared for at this Elephant Transit Home run by the Wildlife Department of Sri Lanka. They are intentionally not tamed and instead trained to be wild, so that they can be released to the jungle in groups once their old enough.
