This archaeological site was discovered in the 1930s and includes archaeological findings of Ancient Olynthos, which used to be the capital of Halkidiki for a while in the antiquity. In Olynthos village, there is an archaeological museum that hosts the findings from the excavations.
Ancient Olynthos is a fine example of the Hippodamian grid plan and features some of the earliest floor mosaics in Greek art.
A beautiful but mainly very interesting ancient site, 25mins drive from Viraggas. Amazing mosaics, infrastructure like drainage system and e.t.c. but the most important is that this city was from the first who were build according to the Hippodamo's city planning system.
