~10.1 miles round trip and 4,250 feet of elevation gain. The trail starts at the Lake McDonald Lodge in old growth cedar forest. After the first mile or so you enter a burn from 2017. I recommend getting an early start and bring lots of water, sun protection, and layers. The top can be chilly and once you enter the burn you are very exposed. There can be pesky mountain goats at the top. Please don't feed them, leave food scraps, or pee near the lookout. The goats are attracted to the salt in your urine.
