If you don't mind a bit of height and a little bit of upper body strength, you will love the Elie Chain Walk. Park up at Shell Bay and, just a little further along, you will find a series of 8 chains attached to the cliffs for an exhilarating walk (free to use). Just make sure you check the tide is well out so you don't get trapped in the caves. You can walk up and over the cliffs on the way back to do a loop.

A fantastic exhilerating scramble around the cliffs with the help of some big chunky chains. Good for confident folk. Make sure you know your tide times. Some sections can get wet. Lovely on a hot day with a swim at the end. There are a couple of vertical chains to climb down. Anyone not happy with the climbing can walk along west bay and climb up the cliff path to meet those returning from the chain walk. There is a lovely meadow full of butterflies and wildflowers at the top of the cliff.

NOT for the faint-of-heart, those with a fear of heights, or sweaty palms!! If you're still reading, maybe you're up for the challenge? For half a kilometer (not sure what that is in miles:)) you're "walking" (more like scrambling) vertically up or down, and horizontally like a crab, hanging on to a metal chain, wondering why you didn't let your partner go alone while you waited for him at the local pub......but then, when you take a deep breath and look at the glory surrounding you, you'll be glad you didn't chicken out! A truly one of a kind (white-knuckle!) experience.
