I love this place, and recently it was now linked directly to downtown by the Firefly Trail.
Lovely park along the river with running/walking paths and grassy spots to hang out in the sun.
Take a walk through Dudley Park, at the confluence of Trail Creek and the North Oconee River.
Tons of walking, biking, running trails connected by refurbished bridges. Trails alongside Oconee River and Trail Creek. Also there's a large field that's perfect for playing games, laying out or having a picnic.
Dudley Park is a 32- acre park nestled in the confluence of Trail Creek and the North Oconee River, just a short walk from downtown Athens and the University of Georgia. The park features majestic hardwoods, open fields, and picnic areas. Dudley Park serves as the junction of two major multi-use paved trail networks, the North Oconee Greenway and the Firefly Trail, which are excellent for all non-motorized travel and recreation, such as walking, running, or cycling. Picnic tables across the park provide the opportunity for gatherings with family and friends. Grills are also provided at the picnic area beside the Poplar Street Parking Lot. Fishing is allowed along the North Oconee River at Dudley Park as long as individuals are using Georgia-legal equipment and have a Georgia Department of Natural Resources fishing license. Parking is available on Poplar Street at Oak Street, and on MLK at First Street, directly across the street from the Chicopee Complex.
