The Mihrimah Sultan Complex and Mosque, designed by Mimar Sinan, is located across Üsküdar Pier Square. III. The structure behind the Ahmet Fountain was built by Mihrimah Sultan, the daughter of Suleiman the Magnificent, between 1546 and 1548. There are mosque, madrasah, school, soup kitchen, inn and tomb sections in the building. The tombs of Mihrimah Sultan's sons, Grand Vizier İbrahim Ethem and Kaptan-ı Derya Sinan Pasha can also be seen within the complex and mosque.

Built in the 16th century, this famous mosque takes its name after the daughter of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Hurrem Sultan, two prominent figures in the Ottoman history. The mosque was designed by the famous architecht Mimar Sinan. Some sources say he was in love with the Sultans' daughter and he was inspired by this love when designing this mosque. Mihr-i Mah also means the Sun and the Moon, another feature of this mosque that makes it special: from some high spots such Bayezid Watchtower on the European side, you can watch the Sunset in the evening and the Moon descending in the morning in between the minarets
