King Henry VIII and his then wife Anne Boleyn visited the castle in 1535 and it later became the home and final resting place of his sixth wife, Katherine Parr who remarried after the king's death. Parr is buried in the castle's church, making Sudeley the only privately owned castle in the world to have a Queen of England buried in its grounds.
The only private house in England to be the burial place of a queen... Catherine Parr. A must-visit attraction.
Situated in Winchcombe, Sudeley castle has history dating back to Henry VIII, indeed Catherine Parr spent her final days here. Excellent display of artefacts including mannequins of Henry VIII and his six wives. Late Autumn the castle puts on a themed light show which is magical and worthy of a visit if you can get tickets.
This was the home of Catherine Parr. She lived and died here after the death of King Henry VIII. Catherine was his last wife.
