Serge Gainsbourg was a regular at this authentic bistro in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, but nowadays the literary, media, and political communities queue up. It’s not uncommon to see the likes of publisher Antoine Gallimard, writer Michel Houellebecq, and former President Nicolas Sarkozy. For a more intimate space, request one of the two private rooms on the first floor. The padded doors will keep your discussion secret. But not to worry—discretion is so important at this timeless restaurant, waiters are asked to sign non-disclosure agreements.

The Bistrot de Paris has it all: traditional French decor, charmingly attired attentive waiters, a wonderful menu and great food!

Past hangout for Left Bank literati, now lunch spot for local politicos – “classic bistrot” in the 7th retains its rep for “honest”, “dependable” eats at middling prices. “Classic” belle époque decor.

Serge Gainsbourg regularly had a table here and unlike some other well known restaurants that have become tourist traps, the Bistrot de Paris still serves excellent food.
