There is a lot to see at this temple that houses the Fudo Myo-o deity, but the first thing you might notice is how wrathful the god looks compared to the usual jolly caricatures of Buddha—Myo-o is a devil-like incarnation. This place is a power spot that concentrates esotericism in a way no other temple does in Tokyo. Fudo Myo-o sits as the central deity of the five Myo-o, who were placed like a barrier of amulets to surround the old Edo Castle—now at the center of Tokyo. Although some statues of Fudo Myo-o have moved over the years, this one remains set in the same place it did over a hundred years ago.

Very traditional temple, which has been visited by many of locals for long. And it's said the name of "Meguro", the name of the district, is actually from this temple. Obon in August and new years have hundreds of visitors, so if being here in the certain period, will see the very cultural scene. Every 28th of the month, there's "Ennichi" festival (matsuri) taken place, and then lots of street food stores open all around the temple.
