6 May Park is a Central Park of Batumi. It's one of the oldest public parks in Georgia and contains a beautiful lake, children’s rides, a Dolphinarium, a Zoo and an Aquarium. Construction of the park began in 1881 when the Prussian gardener Resler was engaged to design a garden. In 1888, the Russian Emperor Alexander III visited and planted Magnolia. To honor this event, the park was named “Alexander Garden”. The park has undergone several reconstructions, the latest in 2006 when it was renamed “6 May Park”. Name is given after May 6th, 2004 Rose revolution of Adjara, the full restoration of Georgia's jurisdiction in Adjara, and it indeed is a very significant date.
