The castle called FESTUNG MARIENBERG was built in 1250, and is still used as a museum of the city's history, as a museum for Franconian art especially Riemenschneider, and one of the old halls for weddings and conventions. High above the city you have a magnifiscent view from there across the city and the Franconian countryside. take bus no. 9 from the Residenz, or walk from the Alte Mainbrücke up the hill, about 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness. You can also take the car going up Höchberger Strasse, and coming to the parking lot from the back. the last 500 m you have to go by foot.

Very impressive fortress. You walk your way up there trough an amazing path in the vinyards or along a stairway and beautiful gates. The overview is awesome.
