Ses Salines was declared a Natural Park in 2001 and constitutes one of the essential visits to be made in Ibiza. The reserve's territory covers almost 3,000 land and 13,000 marine hectares, and extends across the south of Ibiza and the north of Formentera, also occupying the arm of the sea that separates them, which is home to a large part of the oceanic posidonia meadows that surround the islands and which are part of the declaration of Ibiza World Heritage Site, in 1999. Their action is the cause of the rich marine biodiversity of the island, as well as the purity of its waters and even the landscape of the Pitiusan coast. In Ibiza, the entrance to the park is located near Sant Jordi. It houses not only the ancient ponds of the salt flats, but also the beaches of Es Codolar, Ses Salines, Es Cavallet; the cove of Sa Sal Rossa; the defensive towers of Es Carregador and Ses Portes, the church of Sant Francesc and the chapel of Sa Revista. In the parish house of Sant Francesc, next to the church, there is also the Interpretation Center of the Ses Salines Natural Park, where the flora and fauna of the reserve, as well as the history of the ponds, can be learned in detail.

Ses Salines ist ein bedeutendes Salzgewinnungsgebiet des Mittelmeerraumes. Das Naturschutzgebiet (Parque Natural de Ses Salines d'Eivissa i Formentera) liegt an der Südspitze Ibizas.

PLAYA DE SES SALINES La playa más conocida de Ibiza, con dunas, aguas turquesa y chiringuitos exclusivos. Es la playa por excelencia de Ibiza, protegida por una corona de dunas y en esta zona se aprecia con especial intensidad la pureza y transparencia de las aguas. Encontrarás distintos ambientes a lo largo de la playa. El primer chiringuito es el Guaraná, situado en la parte derecha de la playa. El segundo es el Malibú, donde siempre hay alguna cara conocida, especialmente jugadores del fútbol. Sirven comida a los barcos en lanchas y es habitual ver correr las botellas de champagne por las mesas. A partir del Jockey Club, el público es más variopinto e internacional, hasta llegar a Sa Trinxa, de ambiente más hippy al final de la playa, donde se concentran los nudistas. PLAYA ES CAVALLET Este extenso arenal, rodeado de dunas repletas de sabinas, fue la primera playa nudista de Ibiza y una de las pioneras del país. Su arena blanca, los tonos turquesas y la ausencia de hoteles y construcciones hacen de ella un auténtico paraíso. Más o menos hasta la mitad de la playa, donde se encuentra el El Chiringuito, encontrarán todo tipo de gente. En la zona final, junto a El Chiringay, se concentran los aficionados al nudismo. Muchos de ellos forman parte del colectivo homosexual de toda Europa, que tienen en este enclave uno de sus principales puntos de encuentro. Al principio de la playa hallarán otro restaurante: La Escollera, cuya terraza permanece abierta todo el año. TEMPORADA INVERNAL Ses Salines fue declarado Parque Natural en el año 2001 y constituye una de las visitas imprescindibles que hay que realizar en Ibiza. El parque ofrece la posibilidad de realizar múltiples paseos entre los estanques y también hasta las torres de defensa. El trayecto hacia la de Ses Portes, situada entre las playas de Ses Salines y Es Cavallet, es especialmente memorable.
