Gummer's How is a hill in the southern part of the Lake District. This Lake District walk includes some fine forest walking and takes in the outlet from Lake Windermere and also offers stunning views from the southernmost viewpoint of Gummers How.
Gummer's How is situated across from Graythwaite Estate on the eastern shores of Windermere. There is a car park on the right hand side of the road at the top of the hill. From here it's an easy 20 minute walk to the top where you can enjoy breathtaking views over Windermere, Graythwaite and on to the Langdale fells. For a longer walk carry on northward from the top. There's a lovely footpath that passes along the ridgeline before heading into the woodland and then looping back through the forest to bring you back to Gummer's How. After all the walking you can find us at the Mason's Arms at Strawberry bank. Pub views don't get better than the Masons. Especially in the rain. Grab a table with an umbrella and enjoy the free blankets and watching the world go by. Inside you will find the quintessential British pub; open fires, mucky pups, hearty food and a bar stocked with local ales and trendy gins.
