A desert region with picnic areas, as well as good hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails, just North of your location. Sutherland Trail is considered by many, one of the best 10.8 mile hike. Here you have a good chance of spotting wildlife. FYI: this area was ravaged by the October 18, 2020 fire (20 mi from unit).
5-10 minute drive from Summer Rain to breath taking hikes. Get one in before breakfast! $7 entry fee per car.
Catalina State Park sits at the base of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains. The park is a haven for desert plants and wildlife and nearly 5,000 saguaros. The 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons and streams invites camping, picnicking and bird watching — more than 150 species of birds call the park home. The park provides miles of equestrian, birding, hiking, and biking trails which wind through the park and into the Coronado National Forest.
