This cave was sacred to the Corycian Nymphs and the Muses & a place of workship for Pan!
Located on the slopes of mount Parnassus, the Corycian Cave was already known in the mythological Greek world. It was sacred to the Corycian Nymphs and the Muses, a place of worship for Pan, god of the wild mountainous nature and rustic music. The Cave has saved thousands of archaeological remains from the Neolithic, Classical, Roman and Byzantine eras. It is possible to make one's way through the greater part of it even without lights.
