Calabria, l-Italja

When deciding whether to become a Host on Airbnb in Italy, it is important for you to understand the laws in your region or city. As a platform and online marketplace we do not provide legal advice, but we want to provide resources that may help you better understand applicable laws and regulations. This list is not exhaustive, but it may give you a good start in understanding your local laws.

There are three requirements for the Calabria region that are applicable, whether you are a professional Host or an individual, to tourist rentals no more than six consecutive months—Notification of the rental to the municipality, Regional Identification Code (CIR), and reporting tourist data. Visit the Italy national page for more resources to understand the national laws in your country.

Note: For tourist purposes, the Calabria region provides for the possibility of renting out a maximum of three apartments and with contracts for a maximum of six consecutive months.

Notification of the rental to the municipality

In order to rent your accommodation in the Calabria region, you must send a specific communication to the municipality where your property is located at least one week before the arrival of your first guests. You must send it by the following deadlines:

  • 31 March if the property is located in a seaside resort
  • 31 October if it is located in other resorts

You can send this communication to the your municipality in the manner provided for by each individual municipality.

Download the communication form that you will have to complete, differentiated according to the Province of reference (Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone, Vibo Valentia).

Regional Identification Code (CIR)

In order to obtain the Regional Identification Code (CIR), you must contact the Regional Tourist Observatory at the address osservatorioturismo@regione.calabria.it with the following:

  1. the registered notification
  2. the duly completed credential request form in order to access the tourism data collection system
  3. a copy of your identity card

Once you have sent all these documents to the Regional Tourism Observatory, you will receive the credentials to access the Tourism Data Collection System (“SIRDAT”) (check section 3 below). When accessing the portal, you will be able to obtain the CIR code from the "Personal data" (“Anagrafica”) section.

Please note that you must use the CIR code in all online communication and marketing tools for your accommodation. Otherwise, you may incur a pecuniary sanction.

For more information, please consult the guidelines and the relevant page on the region's website.

Reporting tourist data

For statistical purposes, you will have to electronically communicate the presence of your guests to the region of Calabria via the SIRDAT platform (Ross1000).

You will receive your access credentials by email from the Tourism Observatory after you have sent in the request form and the relevant documents.

You must use SIRDAT platform (Ross1000) to transmit your guests' data in one of the following modes:

  1. Check-in mode: you must register the guests at check-in by entering all the necessary information.
  2. Management mode: you must import the file, generated by your management system and containing the data of your guests, into the platform.

Difference between tourist rentals and extra-hotel facilities

Keep in mind that a tourist rental is different from extra-hotel accommodation facilities (such as CAVs, B&Bs etc.) for which the regional regulations allow the possibility of offering more services, on the one hand, and provide for various other requirements (ex: SCIA, classification, etc.), on the other.
